Rosetta<\/em> \u00e9 um filme de 1999 realizado pelos irm\u00e3os Dardenne. Neste filme podem ser apontados diversos motivos, mas aquele que se destacou mais para mim foi o do waffle, pois est\u00e1 sempre presente na narrativa e, apesar de n\u00e3o mover a ac\u00e7\u00e3o directamente, \u00e9 quase o epicentro da narrativa a certo ponto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A protagonista, Rosetta, \u00e9 frequentemente vista a comer um waffle de uma rulote onde sempre vai: mesmo estando a tentar poupar dinheiro, comer o waffle tornou-se parte do seu quotidiano. \u00c9 assim que ela conhece Riquet, o vendedor da rulote de comida; mais tarde, ao procurar emprego, \u00e9 contratada pelo dono da rulote e passa a fazer waffles, at\u00e9 ser despedida e, desesperada, faz de tudo<\/em> para voltar ao emprego, at\u00e9 mesmo denunciar um amigo. No final do filme, \u00e9 estranho quando a vemos a comer alguma coisa que n\u00e3o seja um waffle, porque a dada altura parece fazer parte da personagem estar sempre a comer um waffle, tal como andar com o saco e a garrafa.

Rosetta is a film of 1999 directed by the Dardenne brothers. In this film we could point out different motives but the one that stands out for me is the waffle, as it’s always present in the narrative and, although it doesn’t directly impact the actions, it’s almost at the epicenter of the narrative at a certain point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leading character, Rosetta, is often seen while eating a waffle from a truck where she often goes to : even though she is trying to save up, eating the waffle has become a part of her daily life. That’s how she meets Riquet, the truck vender; later when she is looking for a job, she is hired by the truck owner and starts to make the waffles until she is fired and, desperate, she does everything <\/em>to get the job back, even snitching on a friend of hers. At the end of the film, it’s weird when we see her eating something other than a waffle, because at a certain point it seems like it’s part of the character to be eating a waffle, just as to see her going around with her bag and bottle.
